Enviro Consulting International (ECI) is pleased to announce the publication of the analytical study on the supply and demand for green financial instruments in sectoral value chains targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Morocco! This study, published on May 24, 2023, is the result of a collaborative effort between the Moroccan Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the British Embassy in Morocco, and Financial Sector Deepening in Africa (FSD Africa). ECI's expertise was called upon, in collaboration with South Pole and SDG Action, to analyze the available green financing options for SMEs in Morocco, present an analysis of the demand for green financing among SMEs in Morocco, and develop recommendations to bridge the existing gap.The study highlights the need for complementary financial instruments to accelerate Morocco's transition to green finance. Subsequent phases of the study will aim to introduce a new financial instrument to increase the availability of green financing for Moroccan SMEs.Morocco presents exciting opportunities to accelerate green finance, and this study offers a genuine introduction to the issue. It has received favorable comments from Ms. Nadia Fatah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Simon Martin, UK Ambassador to Morocco, and Mr. Mark Napier, CEO of FSD Africa.
