First Biennial Transparency Report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
Through the combined report of its Fifth National Communication (NC5) and First Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1), Morocco reaffirms its leading role in the fight against climate change and its commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability, and climate governance.
In line with the commitments made during COP22 and under the Paris Agreement, this report provides a comprehensive overview of the Kingdom’s progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing resilience, and pursuing a low-carbon pathway. It highlights the country’s key strategies, including the Long-Term National Low-Carbon Strategy (SNBC-LT), the updated NDC 2.0, and the forthcoming NDC 3.0.
Morocco demonstrates a proactive, equitable, and inclusive approach by engaging all stakeholders: government bodies, local authorities, the private sector, civil society, and international partners. The report serves as a strategic tool for monitoring climate actions, evaluating public policies, fostering multi-stakeholder dialogue, and strengthening regional and international cooperation, particularly within Africa.
