Technical Feasibility Study for Extending the Electric BRT Network and Solar Capacity in Marrakech

This project aligned with Morocco’s national strategy for the large-scale deployment of renewable energy, supporting the objectives of sustainable mobility and energy transition. It aimed to strengthen local capacities in low-carbon transport in Marrakech, building on the first phase of the program, which saw the commissioning of 10 electric Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicles powered by a 750 kWp photovoltaic solar plant.

Dans le cadre de cette deuxième phase, ECI a réalisé une étude de faisabilité technique portant sur deux volets essentiels :

The expansion of the photovoltaic solar plant, aimed at sizing a capacity sufficient to meet the electricity needs of the BRT system once deployed city-wide;

The expansion of the electric BRT network, to better serve Marrakech’s various neighborhoods and enhance the project’s environmental and social impact.

The results of this study provided a solid technical and strategic foundation to support a future funding request to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) or other international climate finance mechanisms.
