Development of a Climate Mitigation and Adaptation Plan for the Housing Sector
This project was carried out to provide Morocco’s housing sector with a structured plan integrating climate mitigation and adaptation measures. The objective was to reduce the sector’s carbon footprint while enhancing its resilience to climate risks, through improved energy efficiency and the integration of national and international commitments.
The mission focused on the following key areas:
Analysis of Morocco’s commitments to sustainable development and climate action
Assessment of the housing sector’s contribution to GHG emissions and its vulnerability to climate impacts
Identification and evaluation of ongoing or planned climate-related programs and actions
Development of concrete mitigation and adaptation measures, accompanied by descriptive sheets
Establishment of a monitoring and evaluation system to ensure the implementation and effectiveness of the proposed actions
This project laid the foundation for an integrated climate strategy for the building sector, aligned with Morocco’s ecological transition priorities.
