Development of the National Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory for Morocco’s Fifth National Communication (5NC) and First Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1)
Within the framework of Morocco's commitments to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), this assignment aims to develop a robust national greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory covering the years 2020, 2021, and 2022, intended to feed both the Fifth National Communication (5NC) and the First Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1).
Main activities:
Analysis of national circumstances and institutional arrangements governing GHG inventories
Collection, verification, and consolidation of sectoral data required for GHG inventory development
Development of national GHG emissions and removals inventories, in accordance with IPCC guidelines
Implementation of a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) system to ensure transparency, consistency, and reliability of the data produced
This work represents a strategic step toward strengthening climate transparency and Morocco’s compliance with the Paris Agreement, while enhancing national capacities for climate reporting.
