The Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, in a proactive and participatory approach with its partners, has launched a study aimed at establishing a nationally and internationally recognized framework to certify various Voluntary Carbon Compensation (VCC) projects. The goal is to offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from Moroccan companies subject to international regulations
ECI, as the contractor for this study, plans to carry out the following activities:
Benchmarking and analysis of the methodologies of the main independent certification mechanisms for carbon offset projects recognized globally.
- Evaluation of the certification potential of existing VCC projects in relation to the methodologies identified by international mechanisms
These two activities are expected to result in a methodological guide for the certification of projects and a roadmap for deployment.
