In 2016, during the preparations for COP22, the CGEM recognized the need to provide Moroccan companies with a "Climate" vision to enable them to successfully support Morocco in fulfilling its commitments under the Paris Agreement. In this context, the Moroccan Climate Business Initiative (IECM) was designed to support the private sector in its climate-related efforts.
The climate finance training workshop, held on December 19 and 20, 2017, was aimed at directors and technical managers of companies as well as consultants from national study offices who wish to specialize in supporting companies in their climate initiatives.
This workshop focused on several aspects of climate finance, including the global architecture of climate finance, Morocco's experience in climate finance, and global climate finance flows. The workshop also introduced the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and its options for direct and indirect access, as well as the requirements of the GCF for concept notes and funding requests.
