The Rwandan Development Bank (BRD) has identified support for obtaining accreditation from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) as one of the main priorities for technical assistance provided by the ICR Facility of GIZ. This technical assistance aims to attract green financing to the Rwandan market and support environmental and energy investments in line with the strategic objectives of the BRD.

In this context, ECI has been mandated to support the BRD in developing an Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) in accordance with GCF requirements, covering all components, including: governance of the ESMS, E&S performance standards, E&S screening mechanism, E&S categorization, conflict and grievance management mechanism, monitoring and evaluation of ESMS performance, etc.

The process also included support for the development of an Environmental and Social Policy (ESP) and a Gender Policy.
